Week 1: Ethernet Communication Data Exchange between S7-1200 and S7-300/400

Automation task:
Data (e.g. for time synchronization) is to be transferred deterministic between a S7-300 master controller and multiple S7-1200 slaves via Industrial Ethernet (IE).
For the deterministic data transfer the master exchanges the data with one after another slave.
Data exchange should happen in
task A via S7-communication and in
task B via open TCP/IP (T-communication).

Figure 01 shows the demo setup for both tasks, where a S7-300 master communicates with two S7-1200 slaves.

The S7-300 compact controller CPU 315-2PN/DP are configured using the STEP 7 V5.4 + SP5 + HF1 programming user interface.
The S7-1200 compact controllers are configured using the STEP 7 Basic V10.5 SP2 programming user interface.

Great news! The Siemens Industry Automation Division has added new Profibus, Profinet and telecommunication services to the communication functions of the Simatic S7-1200 controllers.

New CPU firmware enables communication with Profinet IO devices. With two new communication modules, the Simatic S7-1200 can be operated as a Profibus master or slave.

Three new telecommunication components are available to users when they want to access the controller remotely from a PC or programming device.
